The chipekwe was a cryptid ungulate reported from freshwater habitats in Zambia, particularly around the Bangweulu Wetlands↗, but also from the Kafue Flats↗ and the lakes and rivers at the source of the River Congo. The name was most commonly applied to a horned, amphibious pachyderm which was often called the water rhinoceros, and is thought to be identical to the emela-ntouka.
